The sun was absolutely gleaming on Friday 25th May, as we all enjoyed a river cruise and sightseeing tour of London on the river Thames.
Staff and students enjoyed the day, from walking over the Millennium bridge, having lunch with a magnificent view of the London Eye in sight, to cruising along the river Thames with a wonderfully English guided tour complete with a cockney skipper.
The day was absolutely perfect”.

NEW MEMBERS OF THE LONDON CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

LSBM is proud to announce that we are now members of the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI).
As part of a huge network of London-based businesses that encompass small to medium-sized enterprises as well as major international conglomerates, we will be using the membership to grow our industry links.
There are many benefits to being a member of one of the largest and well-known business networks in the world, and we will pass these onto our students in the form of up-to-the-minute, wider commercial knowledge
and expertise.
We are already in the enviable position of having contact with industry experts from a variety of sectors across the UK, and with the Chamber membership, we can now add further value to the classroom setting.

NEW MEMBER OF STAFF AT LSBM

LSBM are happy to announce the arrival of another new member of staff.
Monika Popp will be joining us as a Student Advisor in the admissions team. Monika has previously worked as the EU Recruitment Officer for Brunel University and we believe that she will make a valuable addition to LSBM. Welcome Monika!

The origins of the LCCI

The origins of the LCCI, as stated on their website, ‘[back in 1782 an entrepreneurial individual produced a paper advocating a plan for a Chamber of Commerce in the Cornhill part of the City of London.
The proposed plan incorporated an information office for business and trade enterprises to use for "consultation, opinion, advice, information and assistance". A subscription rate of not less than three guineas, a significant sum at that time, was suggested for the service.
The aim of the newly formed body was to influence public opinion, the legislature and to affect reforms that individual companies would not be powerful enough to bring about. It was agreed by those founding fathers that London Chamber was to be a Chamber for the London Metropolis and not just for the City of London’.

Next issue will be out around Mid July 2007
