1) The School shall seek to admit all prospective students who meet the minimum established entry requirements and who are considered to have a reasonable chance of success in the program for which they apply.

2) All requests for admission to the School must be made in the form of an application with all sections fully completed. Personal statements must be handwritten. Incomplete applications may cause delays to the application process.

3) Provision shall be made for students seeking enrolment in individual courses, who wish to enhance their knowledge in particular areas or who wish to undertake individual courses to gain an award from another institution, to be admitted to the School on a non-award basis subject to any resource constraints.

4) All representing agencies must have a signed agency agreement in place before representing the School. No commissions will be paid on applications which do not clearly bear the recognised stamp of a “signed” agency. A complete Agency Agreement will be constituted of the agreement itself, the Agents Code of Conduct, Agency steps for Processing LSBM Applications, the Terms of Payment and Refund Policy, and these Admission Policies.

5) All applications must be accompanied by original academic documentation (or certified / attested copies) as required for the specific programme to which they are applying. Consult the requested programme’s Entry Requirements, found on that programme’s information sheet for details.

6) In addition to specific programme entry requirements there are general admission requirements to the school. General admissions requirements to the School may be found in the Academic Policies of LSBM, form a part of these Admissions policies and follow immediately hereafter, and are published in the School brochure.

7) If an applicant submits or causes to be submitted false or deliberately misleading information in support of an application, the applicant will be disqualified from the admissions process. If the applicant has enrolled, the School may, at its sole discretion, terminate the student's enrolment.

8) All documentation submitted in support of an application must be in the English language or be accompanied by a certified / attested translation.

9) In compliance with British Home Office regulations the applicant bears the responsibility to prove their identity through their passport photo page, provision of recent photos, and verification of their permanent residential address. Additional verification may be required by either LSBM or the British High Commission if an applicant’s identity remains unverified. Applicants who are unable or unwilling to verify their identity will not be issued visa support documentation or enrolled in the School.

10) All applications must be accompanied by the required application fee. This is not refundable for any reason but will be credited toward tuition fees if the applicant is accepted onto a programme.

11) Applications which need to be re-assessed because of deferral may require another application fee. See item 4 in the Deferment section of these policies and item 20 below.

12) The receipt date of all applications will be acknowledged through an e-mail sent to the applicant, in the case of independent applications, or to the representing agency in the case of agency generated applications.

13) Assessment of applications will be done by the Director of Admissions, the Head of School, the Director of Studies, or their designee.

14) Faxed copies of applications and relevant documentation may allow some pre-receipt evaluation but no response letters will generally be issued without the full application.

15) Response letters shall state one of the following conclusions with regard to the assessment of an application:
A. Full unconditional acceptance onto the requested programme
B. Conditional acceptance onto the requested programme for one of the following reasons:
a. missing or incomplete documentation
b. pending completion of a required pre-requisite programme
c. pending receipt of academic grades or English language scores
C. Denial of acceptance and the reason. Denial of an application may be for, but is not restricted to, the following reasons.
a. acceptance of the application would exceed the stated term cohort size
b. the applicant has not sufficiently demonstrated and/or documented their fulfilment of the requested programme’s entry requirements
c. the applicant has been found to have submitted false statements or documentation in support of their application
d. the Director of Admissions has not been able to verify the applicant’s identity
e. the applicant is not considered to have a reasonable chance of success in the programme to which they have applied

16) Response letters must bear the permanent residential address of the applicant and will be sent to the applicant at that address, in the case of independent applications, or to the representing agency in the case of agency generated applications.

17) The dispatch of all response letters will be acknowledged to the applicant via their e-mail address.

18) Acceptance of an offer of a place shall be taken to constitute acceptance of all published regulations that may pertain to programs and courses, and the lawful instructions of the School and its agents.

19) The Director of Admissions may cancel the application of an applicant who does not subsequently enrol in any program of the School within the third term after application, and has not sought or been granted leave of absence or deferment. Such an applicant who subsequently seeks to pursue their studies at the School must re-apply for admission in the normal way.

20) Deposits made in acceptance of an offer of place must be received by LSBM before additional visa support documentation will be issued.

21) Visa support documentation will be sent to the applicant at their permanent residential address, in the case of independent applications, or to the representing agency in the case of agency generated applications. For non-British applicants this documentation will include the British Council pamphlet Guidance Notes - Preparing for Entry Clearance.

22) Deposits from applicants who are denied their student visa application at the relevant British High Commission will be refunded upon sufficient proof of that denial. This proof will usually take the form the original denial letter from the High Commission but additional verification may be necessary.

23) The balance of one year’s tuition fees must be received by the school before a student starts their programme. Enrolment of the student applicant will not take place until this is received.

24) Upon enrolment of the student the admissions file of the applicant becomes the enrolled student file. This file is physically transferred to, and responsibility for it is transferred to, the Director of Studies.

25) The School will report to the British Home Office any applicants or representatives who, in the judgement of the admissions office of LSBM, abuse or violate immigration laws or operating guidelines.

DEFERMENT

Policy

1. The School will permit commencing undergraduate students to defer their studies for one year except in those programs which can demonstrate that permitting deferral would jeopardize the conduct of the program,
2. The School will permit commencing postgraduate students to defer their studies only in documented cases of ill health, financial hardship, overseas travel on a student exchange program or for such other reasons as the Director of Studies may determine.
3. Commencing international students in the UK on a student study visa are not allowed to defer in compliance with the British Home Office regulations and must maintain their “Full time” student status.
4. The School will permit applicants to programmes to defer for two terms only and must enrol within the third academic term without consideration of the time of year in which that term occurs. An applicant who subsequently seeks to pursue their studies at the School must re-apply for admission in the normal way.

Deferment Regulations

1 For programs which the relevant Head of Programme has determined would be jeopardized by permitting deferral, students will be allowed to defer their studies only in documented cases of ill health, financial hardship, overseas travel on a student exchange program or for such other reasons as the Director of Studies may determine.
2 Students who wish to defer their studies in the circumstances set out in regulation 1.1 above must apply in writing to the Director of Studies and include supporting documentation. The Director of Studies will notify students of the outcome.
